Traditional Chinese Medicine in China's Public Hospitals
China is where traditional Chinese medicine is practised at scale — in national medical centres and Class-A tertiary hospitals, not boutique clinics. Niray Tech coordinates acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion and tuina at these public hospitals with English-language support throughout.
What TCM Treatment Looks Like
Core modalities at China's public TCM hospitals include acupuncture with fine sterile single-use needles; individually prescribed herbal formulas in decoction, granule or pill form; moxibustion and cupping for cold-damp conditions; and tuina manual therapy combined with rehabilitation. Each is delivered by licensed practitioners under hospital quality control.
Where TCM Meets National Standards
Guangzhou is home to two of China's most significant public TCM institutions. Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine is China's largest TCM hospital, ranked first in patient volume for more than 20 consecutive years, home of China's only comprehensive TCM National Medical Center, and among Guangdong's first international medical service pilot hospitals. The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, founded in 1964, is among China's first Class-A tertiary TCM hospitals and hosts the Lingnan Wenbing School Heritage Studio.
Lingnan Medicine: Built for Warm Climates
Guangzhou is the heartland of Lingnan medicine, a school of southern Chinese medicine developed in a hot, humid subtropical climate. Its diagnostic and therapeutic traditions evolved precisely for warm, damp conditions, which is why they are especially relevant for patients from Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The Lingnan seasonal-febrile-disease school has been researched at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine since the 1980s.
Integrated Medicine, One Hospital
China's major TCM hospitals are comprehensive public hospitals combining TCM departments with Western diagnostics under one roof — a patient can see a TCM practitioner and complete a Western imaging study in the same day, with one medical record and coordinated clinicians.
