Molecular Diagnostics & Genetic Testing in China

China's clinical genomics landscape has changed fast: NMPA-approved NGS panels, a national rare-disease network, and sequencing costs that fell to a fraction of their level a decade ago. Niray Tech coordinates cancer genomic profiling, hereditary-risk testing, rare-disease diagnostics and reproductive screening at accredited hospital laboratories with English-language support.

What We Coordinate

Four pathways cover the questions international patients most often bring. Tumour genomic profiling: comprehensive NGS panels test dozens to hundreds of cancer-related genes in one assay to guide targeted and immunotherapy decisions. Hereditary cancer risk testing: germline panels assess inherited risk for breast, ovarian, colorectal and other cancer syndromes. Rare disease diagnostics: whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing are the standard first-line molecular tests for suspected genetic diseases, and about 80% of rare diseases have a genetic origin. Reproductive and carrier screening: NIPT and carrier screening coordinated with accredited prenatal diagnostic centres.

The Evidence Base

China's National Medical Products Administration approved the country's first NGS large panel — 425 cancer-related genes for tumour mutation burden — in October 2023. The national rare-disease catalogue covers 207 conditions (121 in 2018, 86 added in 2023) supported by a national referral network, and about 80% of rare diseases have a genetic origin.

Accredited Hospital Laboratories

Molecular testing in China is performed in hospital laboratories. In Guangzhou these include Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital's Molecular Diagnostics Center (a PQCC demonstration laboratory running tumour panels, whole-exome sequencing and NIPT), Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital's clinical molecular group (provincial gene-testing quality-control host), and Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine's NGS platform for cancer, hereditary tumours and inherited conditions.

How a Visit Works

Share records and family history for a suitability assessment. We identify an accredited laboratory and the right panel — tumour, hereditary, WES/WGS or reproductive. A blood or tissue sample is collected at the hospital, results are interpreted by licensed clinicians and genetic counsellors, and you receive an English-language report with structured follow-up.
